Search Results 2007-2008
The ever-growing series mimics the layout of a search engine image page, like Google. I am very interested in the way images are distributed and the ways they are reinterpreted and categorized. Something like Google presents a variety of images to the viewer based on simple keywords. The search results are curious, strange, and sometimes seemingly unrelated. I am interested in that random communication between the images that happens, how the simple search results of a few keywords returns such a variety of ideas and images.
The paintings are done quickly, as a way to “test” an image for myself. The images are from a variety of sources, trying out images I am attracted to for one quality or another – usually following a theme or idea I am working with in other work.
